In the Little Explorers lesson, children will embark on a hands-on journey that blends creativity, movement, and real-world problem-solving. The session begins with independent table top activities and community circle to gently introduce peers, parents, and staff. This is followed by music and storytelling to ground the theme of travel and navigation. In the first guided activity, children will design and build their own landscapes using modeling dough and natural materials. We’ll quickly wash hands and have snack time while staff teach children basics of how to use a compass and map. For our second activity, kids will apply directional thinking and teamwork as they navigate the school grounds and locate waypoints (like bathrooms, washing stations, and outdoor playground). After our guided walkabout is complete, children are released to free play.
SUGGESTED AGE RANGE: 3-8 Years

This opening block gives children a self-directed way to ease into the classroom before joining group activities. Starting gently supports emotional regulation, builds confidence, and allows learners to warm up socially and cognitively.

In this block, children practice voicing their opinions and actively listening. Through a “Would You Rather” vote and circle introductions, they build confidence in sharing ideas, then explore imagination and curiosity during storytime. A quick wiggle break helps transition back to table activities.

In this block, children become little explorers as they shape rivers, hills, bridges, and forests using multicolored modeling dough and natural materials like twigs, sticks, rocks, and leaves. They are encouraged to think creatively and problem-solve like real adventurers, considering obstacles and imagining how travelers might move through their landscapes

Attending to bodily needs helps children maintain focus, regulate energy, and reduces the likelihood of accidents or distractions during activities. In summer months, it is especially important to hydrate before outdoor play.

This activity strengthens encourages curiosity, attention to detail, and a sense of ownership over surroundings. By integrating navigation tools and playful challenges, children actively connect physical activity, environmental awareness, and early map skills in a real-world setting.

After the closing circle, children transition into free play, where they can revisit tabletop activities from the Little Explorers session or engage in gross motor play on nearby structures. Whether exploring a natural playground, indoor play café, or swing set, this time allows children to follow their interests, move freely, and extend their learning through play.
Each guided play experience offers a thoughtfully curated adventure. Immersive sessions are designed to inspire curiosity as children engage in hands-on activities, creative experiments, and imaginative play under the guidance of a skilled caregiver.
